ACRTICdeco.com: Powder Room Afters
I’ve just realized that I’ve left you all in limbo on some of the first projects we did in the house and never got around to posting the afters of the powder room renovation – or kitchen for that matter.

The kitchen is only a few more weeks away from being finished, so I’m going to prolong the suspense further. Yes I’ve been too lazy to finish painting that one last cupboard door, but can you blame me? I only just got back the use of both my arms.

As for the powder room, there are also a few details I’ve yet to complete, but am in no rush to do them, so I’ll share with you what we’ve improved so far…

If you recall the Powder Room in progress, you’ll notice all of the former holes are gone and it’s been painted a lovely pale icy-turquoise – by now you’ll probably notice it is my favorite colour, and also brings a little of the icy outside world into the house.

I replaced the old towel rack with this chrome one from IKEA, the toilet paper holder from Umbra and the monogrammed hammam hand towel is from West Elm (oh yes, monogramming is back baby!).

Monogrammable hand towels from West Elm – ours say ‘HP’, not Jones, FYI.

I also hung our gorgeous print by Andrew Qappiq, a print maker from Pangnirtung (one of my favorite Inuit artists of all time). I don’t know how you feel about bathroom art, but I’m all for it! I mean, isn’t it nice to take a moment and admire the view when you’re using the facilities – and it’s much more enjoyable with a lovely piece of art. It also matches the turquoise colour pallet and the light wood frame warms the space as well.

Now all that’s left is to install the ceiling vent (which has been rather tricky as nothing seems to stick it in place), a new light fixture (my original one may not fit as well as initially hoped), some glass shelves above the toilet (see below for the ones we’ll be installing shortly), and a new mirror, once I figure out which one to get. I’m also thinking about new tile flooring and replacing the sink at some point, but that’s for later.

I’ve kept our antique mirror up for now, but it’ll need to be replaced at some point – the dark wood of the frame doesn’t mesh well with the other elements in the room. I’ve yet to find the right mirror for this space but have been toying with a few options that I’ve listed blow.

Which one would you pick?
