http://www.arcticdeco.com/master-bedroom-inspiration/For ages I’ve been meaning to work on our master bedroom, which has been seriously neglected. This is primarily due to the fact that I keep changing my mind on the ‘mood’ that I want to create in that space and my changing design tastes over the past few years (mixed with a lot of procrastination).

When we first bought the house, I purchased gallons and gallons of Benjamin Moore ‘Overcoat’ grey paint to create a dark, moody retreat that would reduce the reflection of light on the walls in the summer time when we’re in 24 hr sunlight mode. But since then (over the past 5 years), I’ve realized that I love the light more than ever and rather than reduce how much comes into the bedroom, I’d actually like to amplify it. Yes, sunlight streaming into your room at 3am is a big pain in the butt, but that just means investing in some serious blackout window treatments – nothing that can’t be fixed with a bit of cardboard and duct tape (temporarily that is)!

So, with that in mind, I’ve started drafting a design mood board filled with my current inspirations for our bedroom. I’m currently swooning over the soft dusky grey-blush pink tones that have been taking off for the last few seasons. They’re soft, delicate, and aren’t overly feminine – so my husband won’t feel left out (mind you, not that pink is only for the ladies!). I think the soft blush tones work great in shared spaces without invoking memories of Disney princess-themed play rooms.

My goal for this space is to incorporate a lot of soft, tactile materials with lovely textures that include French linen, lustrous velvet, and plush pillows and blankets that will create a soothing Nordic spa-like feel. Check it out and let me know what you think!
