Frequently Asked Questions

WHAT ARE THE PERKS OF HIRING A DESIGNER?

Interior designers help you with your budgeting and planning. Hiring an interior designer not only helps you save money, it also helps you save a lot of time and effort. We know where to go for the best resources and ensure a smooth stress-free process managing contractors and trades.

HOW MUCH DOES IT COST & WHAT SHOULD I BUDGET?

Each project is so different and will depend on the client’s needs. Once you provide us with details of what help you’re looking for, we can provide more information to you on likely project costs. Having a budget will be very important for the project to run smoothly and for your expectations to be met. ArcticDeco charges a standard hourly rate for design services, so we can provide as much or as little help on your project as you need. We work with you from the start to clarify your budget so we can best inform you of your options and you can get the most value for money.

DO YOU WORK DIRECTLY WITH CONTRACTORS?

We work closely with general contractors, architects, and trades people. We can recommend specific contractors for your project depending on your needs – from painting and tile install to full renovation. We prefer to use professionals that we have worked with on previous projects to ensure the best quality of work for our clients. These contractors and architects are then hired by the client and are integral to the design process.

WILL I HAVE FEWER DESIGN & DÉCOR OPTIONS IN NUNAVUT?

Although Nunavut is remote, ArcticDeco can typically source almost any design finishings for you that won’t require you to make major sacrifices. We have decades of experience working in Arctic communities and have networks of southern-based furniture, decor, and finishing suppliers that are able to ship to the north. We also have a team of shippers in southern Canada to coordinate your orders by air cargo or sealift. We’re here to make your dream designs come to life.

WHAT IF I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT KIND OF DESIGNS I LIKE?

Part of the work I do with clients is helping them pinpoint what they like and dislike as well as how they want to feel in the space so I can help visualize it for them. Don’t worry it’s you’re not design-savvy – that’s what we’re here for.
